City Six Strings is proud to partner with some of Indianapolis's most sought-after musicians. Meet some of them below:

Maalik has studied the violin since the age of 11. His first significant accomplishment was his acceptance into the Talent Development Program, an initiative launched by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra that targets gifted African-American and Latino music students to further develop their future careers as accomplished classical musicians. This has perpetuated his unyielding advocacy of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in classical music. Since then, he has held multiple private studios including his own with the Columbus Symphony Academy.
During his graduate studies, Maalik held a two-year fellowship with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He is a three-time fellowship recipient of the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra and a two-time fellowship recipient of Spoleto Festival USA where he served as concertmaster.
In 2019, Maalik graduated summa cum laude from Columbus State University’s Schwob School of Music. He later obtained his Master’s at University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music in 2022 upon completion of the CSO/CCM Diversity Fellowship. In his spare time, Maalik loves exploring, traveling to new cities, as well as composing film and video game music.

Outside of classical music, Aaron currently performs with the jazz fusion duo, Liminal Aberration. In the past, he has performed with The Critique of Pure Rhythm, and the Burning City Orchestra. He enjoys Irish fiddling, and has toured with the Irish Tenors, performed in some of Ireland’s most famous pubs, and been featured on the “Mists of Ennistymon” CD, recorded by Dannsair. Aaron is a dedicated teacher, and has held teaching positions at a variety of community music schools, public schools, and summer camps. He is a registered Suzuki teacher.
He holds a BM in violin performance from the Eastman School of Music where he was a student of the late Zvi Zeitlin, and he has had additional instruction from David Perry, Charles Castleman, and Mathias Tacke. Aaron holds an MSc in Philosophy of Science from the London School of Economics and an MA and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Aaron is the Associate Director of the Center for Ethics and Human Values at The Ohio State University, where he also directs the Philosophy for Children Academy and teaches in the Department of Philosophy. Outside of work, he can be found training for and running marathons, repairing vintage electronics, working on his audiophile listening room, and engaging in animal rights activism.

Currently, Aidan is pursuing degrees in music education and cello performance at The Ohio State University, where he studies with Professor Mark Rudoff.

College-Conservatory of Music. Since 2022, Anna has served as faculty at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music Preparatory Program, offering both individual and
group lessons. As an orchestral musician, she holds a section position with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, and has performed with multiple other orchestras in the United States, including the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Charleston
Symphony Orchestra, Illinois Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Kentucky Symphony and the Lancaster Music Festival Orchestra in Ohio.

A former resident of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Ashley served for many years as Concertmaster of the Dearborn Symphony. In addition, she performed regularly with the Toledo, Lansing, and Jackson Symphonies, as well as the Detroit Opera Orchestra. Ashley‘s performing career has taken her on extensive tours of China and Japan.
A dedicated and enthusiastic educator, Ashley teaches with Suzuki Music Columbus. She is a registered teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and completed long-term training for Violin Books 1-10 with Joanne Bath in Greenville, NC. Ashley holds a Bachelors in Violin Performance from East Carolina University and a Masters in Violin Performance from the University of Michigan, where her primary teachers included Ara Gregorian and Yehonatan Berick.
Ashley currently resides in Columbus with her husband, clarinetist Mark Kleine, and their two children.

Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He was the winner of Baldwin Wallace
University’s 2020 Lauria Concerto Competition.
As an orchestral musician, Colin performs regularly with the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra and
CityMusic Cleveland, serving as principal violist in both ensembles. He also appears frequently as a
substitute with the Ashland, New Albany, Newark-Granville, and Westerville Symphony
Orchestras. An active chamber musician, he collaborates with City Six Strings as well as chamber
groups formed through CityMusic Cleveland.
Colin has worked with many of the nation’s leading classical musicians, performing in
masterclasses and workshops with Robert Vernon, Masumi Rostad, Lynne Ramsey, Stanley
Konopka, Mark Jackobs, Phillip Ying, and Takako Masame, among others.
In addition to performing, Colin is dedicated to teaching. He currently directs the string orchestra
program at Fairfield County Strings and Keyboards in Lancaster, Ohio, teaches private students
throughout the Columbus area, and serves as a supplementary orchestra instructor at Olentangy
Middle School. He has also taught at Westlake Music Academy, Encore Music Academy, Aurora
School of Music, and the Richland Academy of the Arts. His expertise has led to invitations as an
adjudicator for Newark City Schools’ Solo and Ensemble (2023, 2024) and for youth orchestra
auditions across Ohio.

She currently runs a flourishing private studio, is Principal Second Violin of the Worthington Chamber Orchestra, performs regularly with many other Central Ohio orchestras and musical organizations, and is President of the Youth Philharmonic of Central Ohio.
During her career, Ella has been coached by Sibbi Bernhardsson, Matsumi Rostad, Brant Taylor of the Chicago Symphony, the Avalon String Quartet, and has participated in masterclasses with Midori and Roland Vamos. She has been fortunate enough to perform alongside such musical talents as Itzhak Perlman, Midori Goto, Charlie Vernon, and The Piano Guys. She has also toured abroad in Spain, Bulgaria, Germany, Austria, Czechia, and El Salvador.
Owing in part to her Salvadoran roots, Ella is a strong advocate for the dissemination of Latin American classical music, which she has researched extensively. Marrying her passion for education with her love of her cultural heritage, she champions the importance and benefits of incorporating Latin American music into the Western pedagogical framework.

Jaryn teaches violin and viola lessons to students ages 5 to adult at Musicologie studios in Lewis Center and Gahanna. The best feedback she’s gotten as a teacher is that she’s “weird in a good way.” In her free time, Jaryn does a lot of knitting and buys more books than she has time to read.

In addition to performing extensively with her band, Liz has also performed as a violinist with new music ensemble Chamber Brews and has recorded and toured with indie folk group, CAAMP, showcasing her musical abilities on stages ranging from The Ryman to Red Rocks. She currently serves as assistant concertmaster for the Worthington Chamber Orchestra and teaches as a registered Suzuki violin teacher as well.
Liz’s classical training offers unique context for her musical delivery, writing style, and arrangements, all of which she enjoys employing in an array of musical projects and collaborations.
