Maalik Glover, Violin
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Maalik Glover is an active orchestral musician and private teacher. He was appointed to the Columbus Symphony violin section in 2024 after completing one season at the New World Symphony. He has received recognition at competitions such as winning Omega Psi Phi’s 2015 Talent Hunt as well as the 2021 CCM Violin Competition.
Maalik has studied the violin since the age of 11. His first significant accomplishment was his acceptance into the Talent Development Program, an initiative launched by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra that targets gifted African-American and Latino music students to further develop their future careers as accomplished classical musicians. This has perpetuated his unyielding advocacy of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in classical music. Since then, he has held multiple private studios including his own with the Columbus Symphony Academy.
During his graduate studies, Maalik held a two-year fellowship with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He is a three-time fellowship recipient of the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra and a two-time fellowship recipient of Spoleto Festival USA where he served as concertmaster.
In 2019, Maalik graduated summa cum laude from Columbus State University’s Schwob School of Music. He later obtained his Master’s at University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music in 2022 upon completion of the CSO/CCM Diversity Fellowship. In his spare time, Maalik loves exploring, traveling to new cities, as well as composing film and video game music.

Aaron Yarmel, Violin
Columbus-based violinist Dr. Aaron Yarmel enjoys an active and eclectic career that spans styles, roles, and genres. As a classical violinist, he has performed with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the Camerata Chicago, Orchestra Iowa, the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra, and the New World Symphony. A committed advocate of contemporary music, he has performed with the Columbus Ohio Discovery Ensemble, Contrary Motion, Sound Out Loud, The LunArt Festival, the Eastman Broadband Ensemble, and the OSSIA New Music Group. Aaron’s summer festival appearances include the Lucerne Festival Academy, Music Academy of the West, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Interharmony International Music Festival.
Outside of classical music, Aaron currently performs with the jazz fusion duo, Liminal Aberration. In the past, he has performed with The Critique of Pure Rhythm, and the Burning City Orchestra. He enjoys Irish fiddling, and has toured with the Irish Tenors, performed in some of Ireland’s most famous pubs, and been featured on the “Mists of Ennistymon” CD, recorded by Dannsair. Aaron is a dedicated teacher, and has held teaching positions at a variety of community music schools, public schools, and summer camps. He is a registered Suzuki teacher.
He holds a BM in violin performance from the Eastman School of Music where he was a student of the late Zvi Zeitlin, and he has had additional instruction from David Perry, Charles Castleman, and Mathias Tacke. Aaron holds an MSc in Philosophy of Science from the London School of Economics and an MA and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Aaron is the Associate Director of the Center for Ethics and Human Values at The Ohio State University, where he also directs the Philosophy for Children Academy and teaches in the Department of Philosophy. Outside of work, he can be found training for and running marathons, repairing vintage electronics, working on his audiophile listening room, and engaging in animal rights activism.

Aidan Sullivan, Cello
Aidan Sullivan is a cellist from Dayton, Ohio. He is a member of the Ohio State Symphony Orchestra and frequently performs with other ensembles in the Columbus and Dayton areas including the Ashland Symphony and Worthington Chamber Orchestra. In addition to his orchestral and solo playing, he is an experienced musical theater musician and performs in a variety of other settings, from continuo ensembles to contemporary groups. His wide range of experiences has given him opportunities to perform across the country, and internationally. He also holds the position of executive director of the cello chamber music ensemble CELLOHIO and is a member of the American String Teachers Association and Ohio Music Education Association.
Currently, Aidan is pursuing degrees in music education and cello performance at The Ohio State University, where he studies with Professor Mark Rudoff.

Anna Macintosh, Cello
An emerging cello performer and educator, Anna has recently returned to Columbus after completing a Bachelor’s degree and minor in Suzuki Pedagogy at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and Master’s degree in Cello Performance from the University of Cincinnati
College-Conservatory of Music. Since 2022, Anna has served as faculty at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music Preparatory Program, offering both individual and
group lessons. As an orchestral musician, she holds a section position with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, and has performed with multiple other orchestras in the United States, including the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Charleston
Symphony Orchestra, Illinois Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Kentucky Symphony and the Lancaster Music Festival Orchestra in Ohio.
College-Conservatory of Music. Since 2022, Anna has served as faculty at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music Preparatory Program, offering both individual and

Ashley Dyer, Violin
Violinist Ashley Dyer enjoys a multifaceted career as a performing artist and educator. She has performed with such varied artists as Itzhak Perlman, Andrea Bocelli, Renée Fleming, Béla Fleck, Audra McDonald, Rachel Barton Pine, Rod Stewart, and Michael Bublé. Ashley frequently enjoys performing with the Columbus Symphony and the Dayton Philharmonic. She may also be seen on stage with other ensembles across Central Ohio, such as the New Albany, Springfield, Worthington Chamber, and Westerville Symphonies, where she is a frequent guest Concertmaster.
A former resident of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Ashley served for many years as Concertmaster of the Dearborn Symphony. In addition, she performed regularly with the Toledo, Lansing, and Jackson Symphonies, as well as the Detroit Opera Orchestra. Ashley‘s performing career has taken her on extensive tours of China and Japan.
A dedicated and enthusiastic educator, Ashley teaches with Suzuki Music Columbus. She is a registered teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and completed long-term training for Violin Books 1-10 with Joanne Bath in Greenville, NC. Carlie Geyer, Violin
Carlie Geyer is a professional violinist and music educator based in Columbus, Ohio. Carlie currently serves as the Education Manager at ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, where she oversees a range of programs designed to inspire and connect communities through music. With degrees in Violin Performance from Eastern Kentucky University and Youngstown State University, she is passionate about both performing and teaching. In addition to her administrative and educational work, Carlie enjoys freelancing, playing in orchestras, and mentoring young musicians. Outside of music, she enjoys the outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and exploring new experiences.

Colin Henley, Viola
Colin Henley is a professional violist and music instructor with a Master’s degree in Viola
Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He was the winner of Baldwin Wallace
University’s 2020 Lauria Concerto Competition.
As an orchestral musician, Colin performs regularly with the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra and
CityMusic Cleveland, serving as principal violist in both ensembles. He also appears frequently as a
substitute with the Ashland, New Albany, Newark-Granville, and Westerville Symphony
Orchestras. An active chamber musician, he collaborates with City Six Strings as well as chamber
groups formed through CityMusic Cleveland.
Colin has worked with many of the nation’s leading classical musicians, performing in
masterclasses and workshops with Robert Vernon, Masumi Rostad, Lynne Ramsey, Stanley
Konopka, Mark Jackobs, Phillip Ying, and Takako Masame, among others.
In addition to performing, Colin is dedicated to teaching. He currently directs the string orchestra
program at Fairfield County Strings and Keyboards in Lancaster, Ohio, teaches private students
throughout the Columbus area, and serves as a supplementary orchestra instructor at Olentangy
Middle School. He has also taught at Westlake Music Academy, Encore Music Academy, Aurora
School of Music, and the Richland Academy of the Arts. His expertise has led to invitations as an
adjudicator for Newark City Schools’ Solo and Ensemble (2023, 2024) and for youth orchestra
auditions across Ohio.

Ella Pittsford is a violinist and string pedagogue based in Columbus, Ohio. She holds a Bachelor of Music in violin performance from Illinois Wesleyan University and received her Master of Arts in string pedagogy from The Ohio State University under the tutelage of Drs. Robert Gillespie and Kia-Hui Tan.
She currently runs a flourishing private studio, is Principal Second Violin of the Worthington Chamber Orchestra, performs regularly with many other Central Ohio orchestras and musical organizations, and is President of the Youth Philharmonic of Central Ohio.
During her career, Ella has been coached by Sibbi Bernhardsson, Matsumi Rostad, Brant Taylor of the Chicago Symphony, the Avalon String Quartet, and has participated in masterclasses with Midori and Roland Vamos. She has been fortunate enough to perform alongside such musical talents as Itzhak Perlman, Midori Goto, Charlie Vernon, and The Piano Guys. She has also toured abroad in Spain, Bulgaria, Germany, Austria, Czechia, and El Salvador.
Owing in part to her Salvadoran roots, Ella is a strong advocate for the dissemination of Latin American classical music, which she has researched extensively. Marrying her passion for education with her love of her cultural heritage, she champions the importance and benefits of incorporating Latin American music into the Western pedagogical framework.

Jaryn Danz, Viola
Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Jaryn Danz has been playing viola for almost twenty years. She holds bachelors and masters degrees in music performance from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and the University of Colorado Boulder, respectively. Jaryn has recently performed with the Newark-Granville Symphony, the Worthington Chamber Orchestra, Short North Stage, and the Lima Symphony. Her primary teachers have been Molly Gebrian, Erika Eckert, Geraldine Walther, and Juliet White-Smith.
Jaryn teaches violin and viola lessons to students ages 5 to adult at Musicologie studios in Lewis Center and Gahanna. The best feedback she’s gotten as a teacher is that she’s “weird in a good way.” In her free time, Jaryn does a lot of knitting and buys more books than she has time to read.

Liz Fisher, Violin
Liz Fisher is a violinist, songwriter, performer, and recording artist based in Columbus, Ohio. She is the frontwoman for alternative rock band, The Cordial Sins, who released their debut album in April of 2023.
In addition to performing extensively with her band, Liz has also performed as a violinist with new music ensemble Chamber Brews and has recorded and toured with indie folk group, CAAMP, showcasing her musical abilities on stages ranging from The Ryman to Red Rocks. She currently serves as assistant concertmaster for the Worthington Chamber Orchestra and teaches as a registered Suzuki violin teacher as well.
Liz’s classical training offers unique context for her musical delivery, writing style, and arrangements, all of which she enjoys employing in an array of musical projects and collaborations.

Luis Parra, Cello
Venezuelan cellist Luis Parra joined the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in 2024. An accomplished artist in orchestral, solo, and chamber music, he has performed with orchestras

in 2014 with the Yaracuy Symphony in Venezuela, and his international debut in 2015 with the Lebanese Philharmonic. He has collaborated with renowned ensembles like the Kronos Quartet and Cavani String Quartet. Parra holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Robert McDuffie Center
for Strings and a Master’s Degree from the University of Cincinnati, where he was a Cincinnati Symphony/CCM Diversity Fellow.

Lucy Reed, Cello
Lucy Reed is a German Village-based cellist, and a recent graduate from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Music Performance. Lucy served as principal cellist of The Ohio State University Symphony Orchestra from 2023-2025, and was a winner of the Ohio State School of Music Undergraduate and Masters Concerto Competition in 2023. As Artistic Director of the student organization “CELLOHIO” from 2021-2024, she oversaw performance development and artistic vision for the university’s only all-cello chamber ensemble. She enjoys playing in the cello section with the Ashland Symphony Orchestra and Newark Granville Symphony Orchestra. As an avid chamber musician, she spends much of her time rehearsing and performing with her friends in their piano trio. She has studied cello with Mark Rudoff since 2019, and has been a chamber student of Professor Julia Yang since 2024. When she’s not in the practice room, you’ll find her curled up with a good book, walking dogs, or scoping out a new coffee shop.

Rosa Balderrama, Cello
Rosa Balderrama is a cellist and educator based in Columbus, Ohio. Originally from Bolivia, she holds a Master of Music in Cello Performance from The Ohio State University and has performed with ensembles including the Des Moines Symphony, Newark Granville Symphony, and Ashland Symphony. Rosa has shared the stage with world-renowned artists such as Gil Shaham, Midori, Joshua Bell, and Amit Peled, and is equally passionate about orchestral, chamber, and solo playing. She enjoys exploring new genres and creating music that connects with diverse audiences, using performance as a way to build community. In addition to performing, she maintains a thriving private cello studio, where she inspires the next generation of musicians.
